When you arrive in Kinshasa with kids, the first question is: where can we sleep safely? We chose a flat in a residence in Limete rather than a hotel.
The residence is gated, with 24-hour security. The guards are super kind, to the kids and to us: they helped us out with information many times, and when your driver arrives, they’re the ones who manage the parking inside the property. Add the pool and a generator that kicks in automatically during power cuts: in Kinshasa, security and electricity are families’ two biggest worries. Here, both are sorted.
The flat has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, hot water and wifi. We stayed there before and after the road trip, and we negotiated the price: €1,400 a month.
We spent three weeks there, paying one month’s rent. A place “so good we didn’t even hesitate”.

After Kinshasa’s traffic jams, the kids raced off to the pool.
