Fruits and flavours of Kongo Central

Kongo Central is a farming paradise: fruit, vegetables and fish cost far less there than in Kinshasa.

A farming paradise

On the road through Kongo Central, everything grows: banana trees, mango trees, sugar cane, soursop, avocados… Our tip: keep room in the boot to fill up the car before heading back to Kinshasa.

At Muanda market, red mullet for 7 people cost us 1,000 FC, less than half a dollar. At the villa, a cook prepares meals for $20 a day with produce from the market.
